While usually an incidental radiographic finding, these cysts may obstruct the collecting system and yet not be apparent on nephrotomography. They may also be confused with renal sinus lipomatosis … With the increased use of medical imaging, there has been an increase in the numbers of pericardial cysts identified. However, there is a paucity of data regarding the clinical course for pericardial cysts. Hence, we aimed to study the clinical features and natural history of pericardial cysts. We r … Twenty-five patients with spontaneous or traumatic rupture of known renal cysts were encountered over an 18-year period. Blunt abdominal trauma and iatrogenic trauma during retrograde endoscopy accounted for four traumatic ruptures. In 21 patients, spontaneous communication occurred between the cyst and the collecting system or the perinephric Renal peripelvic lymphatic cysts (lymphangiomas) are usually seen as an isolated finding.

Henthorne (3) found 20 cases of peripelvic cysts at autopsy. Renal sinus cysts are benign. They can be subdivided into. parapelvic cysts: originate from the adjacent parenchyma and protrude into the renal sinus; peripelvic cysts: originate within the sinus itself and have a lymphatic origin; Parapelvic cysts. These are simple renal cysts that plunge into the renal sinus from the adjacent renal parenchyma.

The peripelvic cysts and those at the corticomedullary junction follow the pattern of larger lymphatics draining the kidney through the renal pedicle. Peripelvic cysts of the kidney occur rarely, they are usually small in size and most cases have been noted by pathologists as incidental findings at necropsy. In only a few cases have these cysts caused clinical symptoms, and these were usually large cysts tending to distend the abdomen; their perinephric origin was in most cases recognized only on the operating table or at necropsy. Cystic masses Ignore, Follow, Excise David S. Hartman, MD and Ileana Chesaru, MD. From the Department of Radiology, Milton S. (i) parapelvic cysts: originating in the renal parenchyma extending into, and primarily expanding within, the renal sinus, and (ii) peripelvic cysts: originating in sinus structures which presumably represent mostly lymphatic collections.
